Apparently seeking to capitalize on the wave of news coverage that has ac. companied their recent gains on the battlefield in Iraq, militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, released a recruitment video online late Thursday aimed at persuading Muslims in the West to abandon their comfortable lives and embrace jihad.

Charles Lister, a fellow at the Brookings Doha Center, drew attention to the 13-minute video, “There Is No Life Without Jihad,” which features testimonials in English from men who identify themselves as British and Australian militants en route to Iraq from Syria. It was removed from YouTube on Friday afternoon, but the militant group’s media unit made the file available for direct download from Twitter and a copy was saved by Aaron Zelin, the founder of Jihadology.
